🏆 We started running office pools onine back in 2002 for the FIFA World Cup in Korea-Japan... The first incarnation was an actual office pool. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback - the idea stuck and was further refined in the decades (yikes) that followed.
🏆 We have hosted a number of different types of pools over the years with various degrees of success. These included
World Cups, European Championships, English Premier League & UEFA Champions League
NHL Playoff Hockey
NFL Regular Season, NFL Playoffs, SuperBowls
More are being added all the time
⏲ UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time and is the basis for civil time today. This 24-hour time standard is kept using highly precise atomic clocks. We have adopted this for all relevant dates on the platform in order to standardize tournament / game times and make it accessible for everyone.
🌍 UTC is not a timezone, however each timzeone has its own offset which is important for everyone keeping track of game times. Timezones change and some are non-standard, as such this was the most appropriate solution that should work for (nearly) everyone.
👤 Your UTC offset is the numeric value under Your Time. Add this number to your profile. The result is indicated in the top-right corner in your profile box.
⏲ In short, the Infinite Monkey Theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter will eventually type out the complete works of William Shakespeare given "enough" time.
💯 At the same time, Paul he Octopus gained world-wide infamy for having a 100% success rate in predicting Germany's results as well as the Final at the 2010 World Cup.
🐵 The Random Monkey is our Resident Bot that participates in all pools. It has unique AI capabilities to predict scores and results. Pool hosts have the options to add it to their pools, or remove them if they so choose.
